OK, so where am I going with this?

I'm looking at other ways to gain more donations/sponsorship to the charities and AWARE~Wales, and what better way than to do what I've been employed to do since 1999; assisting people by creating, or up-dating, CV's and employers letters etc!

How much will a CV cost me?

An average cost for creating a one page CV (see our sample CV) will be £15 (a three way split between the two charities and sponsorship); up-dates are negotiable.

Are the CV's any good?

Ooo you cheeky monkey, YES of course - but you'll be the judge of that.  In 2000 I had a meeting with employers regarding 'what is a good CV'.  The outcome of that meeting was as follows: sample CV.  This is a typical 'Target' CV.

What type of CV do I need?

Right, there are four main types of CV's: Functional, Chronological, Combination and Target.  The most common is the Target CV, shown in the sample CV

Functional CV

This emphasises your accomplishments, skills and qualifications at the beginning of your CV.  The timeline is not an issue.  Your career history is positioned at the end of your CV where you could also list small details about your previous jobs (additional information).  The functional CV focuses on what you have done rather than when and where.

Chronological CV

This shows your career's progression and growth.  The information moves from the beginning of your career to the present situation.  The CV is easy to read and one can easily go through the career history.

Combination CV

This type of CV starts with a description of your achievements, skills and abilities (functional) and shows the employer what you are made of, followed by a chronological listing of your career.  Its advantage is that academic and personal background is covered as required without listing everything you have ever done, but showing that you understand the need to match your attributes to an employer's requirements.

Targeted CV

This is a way to focus your career towards a particular objective, within a specific industry or company.  A targeted CV is written in a way that highlights the skills, qualifications and experience that match the requirements of the advertised position.  This kind of CV is more of a general overview of your skills, achievements and qualifications.  A general objective or career strategy behind an inventory CV, helps in being slightly more specific towards your career goals.

Your CV (curriculum vitae)

"course of life"

A standard British curriculum vitae (CV), also known as a résumé (used especially in the United States, the Philippines and in English Canada), is a document containing a summary or listing of relevant job experience and education, usually for the purpose of obtaining an interview when seeking employment.  Often the CV, or résumé, is the first item that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker and therefore a large amount of importance is often ascribed to it.

I want a CV, so where do I start?

There are a few ways we can do this, or you can contact me.  You can then sent a draft CV by Email or post, or you can complete our form.  Please refer to our sample CV on what to include.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are sending a CV via an Email attachment, please send as a MS Word 2000, or a lesser version document.  Thank you.
